Constar seemed superficially interesting to me based on this MonOxbar technology even though they are a PET plastic bottler, but one glance at their 10K raised many too many red flags for me, including:

34% of sales dependent on one customer, Pepsi, with contract ending Dec. '08

environmental litigation in Netherlands

cross licences granted to competitors including Rexam AB, which owns several patents relating to oxygen-scavenging technology

a stock price that has underperformed the averages and its industry for years

FDA approves Constar's PET project
Friday February 8, 12:15 pm ET

Constar International Inc. received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to use an advancement in its plastic container technology for various food products.

Constar said its DiamondClear oxygen scavenging technology can now be used in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) containers of ketchup, salsas, pasta sauces, jams, jellies and other products.

DiamondClear is blended into polyethylene terephthalate to give it glass-like clarity, gloss and an extended shelf life, the Philadelphia company (NASDAQ:CNST - News) said.
