I am afraid that is an understatement.....only one ethnic group is more generally mistrusted.....the gypsies. Society fear groups who refuse to be assimilated...the results are nearly always the same . I sorry to say it ,but Jewish people are often only tolerated as long as they are seen to be non threatening .One has just to picture the stereo type. One of the saving graces(reasons that there is toleration)has been that the Jewish are seen as law abiding and peacefull and above all non threatening. but now...... The very word "zionist"has become a lable that ,more often than not, is negative and generally associated with terms i would rather not list .("Chauvinist" might be the least insulting ) I am afraid that having a state so easily identified with being a "Jew" only serves as a catylist for general anti sematism....... Perhaps the question of how to ensure the "safety"of jewish people has no answer. Perhaps that very lack of an answer is an integral Jewish Identity. Please... i make this as an observation not a judgement,except perhaps for gentiles. I
