Lots of people have inflated egos and that may be especially true of people who have achieved a powerful position in politics. This may be the singularly best justification to insist on a checks and balance system. Individuals with an agenda to rework world dynamics subject to their favorite agenda are not hard to find in all political camps. That seems to be the underlying nature of politics. Our job of, 'we the people' is to safe guard against pendulum swings that go to far, or activities that are too extreme, and upset the delicate balance of our system.
