A culture of innovation is in the Board Room and on the design easels. Doesn't sound like you are addressing the issue of US and companies not being able to respond to standards of the market because they fought those standards every step of the way, cuz it would be bad for show biz, while the competitors, often in pre-emptive moves (the vision thing, eh?) met and exceeded them.
But, I understand where you are coming from. If the company sold less cars, they would lose less money. And if they closed more plants, they can make more money. So they should sell no cars, make a bundle, use that money to close down the factories, and make an absolute fortune. The air would get cleaner, too. And we would burn less gas.
