I really hope we aren't stupid enough to hit Iran. Of course I thought Bush might be turned away from invading Iraq, so what do I know? I saw all those potential problems, and I figured the WMD stuff was tenuous, and I didn't think Saddam was a threat, and I marched in the street with thousands of people, and I thought "All this stuff might change his mind."

But no. I don't think Bush changes his mind. So I wish I knew what he'd already decided to do- because no matter what happens in the real world, where facts and reality matter, he will do what he's already decided to do, based on his own weird calculus.

It might be more than a nail in the coffin for the Republican Party it might be a nail for all of the United States.
