Hadn't seen that breakout.. I don't follow the $/JPY very closely, so my opinions were based upon "broad-brush" logic that would indicate the Central Bank of Japan would be hesitant to add fuel to any increases in the value of they Yen by increasing interest rates. A stronger yen against the US dollar will mean the Yuan will fall against the Yen as well.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't see anything good resulting to the Japanese economy from a stronger Yen.

But you're definately correct that the Yen seems to be on a tear. That could have serious consequences for the carry trade folks.

What's interesting is that I just ran the Swiss Franc, the other (so I have heard somewhere) most utilized currency for carry trades and it's also been showing major strength..
