Ted Kennedy again fumed from the Senate floor that a troop surge would "make us more hated".

The poster took the opportunity to turn that quote into a rant. It may have made a good segue but the rant really didn't follow from that statement. The statement, taken alone and at face value, is about as obvious a truth as there is. Of course adding troops will be perceived by the enemy as another grievance and add to their hatred. Like, duh. You'd have to be a pretty dim bulb not to recognize that we do lots of things that reinforce their hatred of us.

But if you read "America is the source of all evil" into the simple recognition that certain acts reinforce our negative image, I submit that it's your own confirmation bias at work.
