It is Shepard's habit to reframe your words (mine and other's as well) so he can declare an idea that he finds offensive, even if no one present would disagree.

It is tiresome and dishonorable on his part, and an odd behavior especially since he is continually exposed for it.

It gives him an opertunity to squirm around making spiteful defensive comments and avoid rational discussion, which seems to be his only contribution to SI.
