I wouldn't want anyone I care about to work at a convenience store. Just ripe for robbing and someone getting hurt. Just no way. It would really be interesting to find out what the 16 yr olds around here do for summer work. I know I don't see too many kids that age working at the stores I go in to. Maybe he's just going to have to do the odd jobs until he reaches 18 and be happy with that? Or maybe wash dishes at a restaurant. I'm sure my youngest was 16 when he went to work at Taco Time.
