My reference is to quotes from his former staffers and collegues in the Senate. And Thompson's own comments that he was bored by the system. What did he achieve in the Senate? He backed McCain-feingold. Why? He represented himself as a good ol boy who could cross the aisle and have a boubon and branch water with the other guys. Great. Then he got bored and went back to acting. What is the appeal of his record or his positions? He has been wishy/washy on Roe v. Wade and lobbied for a Haitian dictator (a really bad guy!). Can somebody explain what he brings that is so appealing?
