It's called personal philantrophy.

$500 million can put him in the position to be part of the Presidential debates if he should choose to run.

Time Magazine has an article The Action Heroes focusing on Bloomberg and Schwartzenegger-----------the lead paragraph focuses on the two of them solving the problem of "global warming" and Schwartzenegger's determination to cure disease i.e. Alzheimer's such as his mother has using Stem cell research.

Bloomberg is associated with ----accdg to the article "the most draconian smoking ban and the first big-city trans-fat ban------.

Schwarzenegger told Time------"All of the great ideas are coming from state and local governments-------We're not going to wait for big daddy to take care of us."

Schwarzenegger is saying exactly what Reagan Republicans supported--------taking care of problems at the local and state level-----education, crime etc.

I could not agree more---charity and the daily problems belong at the local level-------- the federal government's main focus is national and international security and relationship with other countries.

I do have a distinct problem with Bloomberg making laws to control what we eat and whether or not we smoke. When Bloomberg gives up his bad habits then he can speak to those of others--------but not as a politician seeking more power over our individual bodies.

mj----a non-smoker

Scott,

Since you're from Chicago, you might know more about Rezko than the rest of us. When Obama was taking campaign money from Rezko, was it common knowledge that Rezko had a shady history? Its sounding more like an Abramoff-ish kind of set up......first the land deal, now campaign money etc. What's your thoughts?
