I already own a car which gets over 100 miles per gallon.
It has old fashioned Nickel Metal Hydride batteries in it.
Exactly 120 6,000 MAH D cells to be precise. I am very much interested in changing the stack to newer NiMH batteries which would either give stronger acceleration or better mileage.

The car is a 2000 Honda Insight. The best gas mileage has been 114 MPG on a two way run of 60 miles. That included starting and turning around. Obviously it would do better with someone who did not add 10% to the weight of the vehicle.

I must confess that the drive was at low speeds, without stops or without traffic which would cause the speed to vary.

Nothing like aluminum, and poly carbonate to increase mileage!
