Sounds like these Juneteenth celebrations are dangerous things to be around.

Associated Press - June 20, 2007 9:15 AM ET

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Police in riot gear were used to disperse the crowd at Milwaukee's Juneteenth celebration after a man was pulled from a car and beaten and an officer was injured trying to break up a fight.

Several thousand people attended the festival celebrating the end to slavery yesterday and were peaceful.

It's when the festival came to a close last evening that things got out of hand. Some troublemakers vandalized some cars and pulled a driver out of a vehicle and kicked him in the head.

One woman attacked a police officer and was brought down and cuffed.

The violence follows a similar disturbance at the end of last year's Juneteenth festival. Police in riot gear were also called in and broke up a fight involving a group of people who tore down a tent and used its poles to beat each other.
