They were trying force the Social Right to say taking stem cells from embryos was not killing a child by pushing the procedure. If stem cells from embryos are no longer needed, they lose the issue.

I see. It may cost the choicers a potential new wedge and obviate a potential inroad with the pro-lifers. I hadn't thought of that.

But it doesn't change any of the standard arguments for choice or set back the current status on choice. At most it would stall the hoped-for inroad.
