Hardly unmeasurable. Its easier to measure all compensation and adjust by all inflation then it is to break out one segment for a different adjustment the way you do. The fact that its more accurate as well, is another argument in favor of that method.

re: They aren't being killed (at least in the US) even by that standard. In absolute terms they certainly aren't being killed. Over a period of generations they are doing slightly better. Currently things have also gotten slightly better. Pick some period in between and you can get stagnation, but that's still not "getting killed".

On a relative basis, yes they are.


Getting killed on a relative basis, does not equal getting killed. Economic growth is a positive sum game not a zero sum game. Also even on a relative basis, they may be "losing", but not to the extent of "getting killed"
