The ghosts of Sellwood.

The old mine.. it was an iron mine that made iron from sulfide. This is an easy process, which was used at Rammelsberg Germany until, well we don't know when/or if they stopped there. Closed in 15, around about the time me grandpappy set off for war. Then it reopened in 59 as Moose Mountain. It smelts easier than oxide iron, but back then they did not know how to get all the SO2 out of the air, and that defeated the process finally. Actually someday we will be doing that again, as the process makes H2SO4 rather handily and quite cheaply (process is exothermic, so does not need the addition of energy to complete. If your furnaces are designed right to allow the catalysis it is very efficient at both acid and ore production. Mine is now defunct.
