Why you consider yourself a better authority on Hamas is beyond me. Especially if you have to put yourself in the position of explaining away every single act of violence, hate, bigotry, and radical fundamentalism on the part of Hamas.

I don't consider myself a better authority.

What I do know is that Hamas was elected to the Palestinian parliament by a significant number of Palestinians. What I do know is that watching the tube I could not tell the difference between the Hamas 'terrorists' and the Fatah 'freedom fighters'........they both wore black headgear that covered their faces and carried machine guns and were excessively violent. What I do know is that the Fatah branch in Lebanon is under attack by the Lebanese gov't because they are terrorists. I do know that Fatah, under Arrafat and since his death, is very corrupt. I do know that Hamas provides humanitarian assistance to Palestinians. I do know that Hamas is a violent organization.

Now out of this hodge podge how am I to determine who are the good guys and who are the bad guys? Do we respect the legitimately elected officials of other peoples, or is democracy a convenience we turn on and off?

What do you know that I don't?

If you're FOR democracy on principle, how can you be AGAINST Hamas, who were democratically elected?

Are we just FOR democracies that like us and agree with our policies?
