I know that even if we were not hurt, when a car hit us at only 35 or so mph, I now have become a wreck when riding in the car in heavy traffic. Especially noticed it in Boston traffic....worse than Seattle traffic by a LOT, and THAT is saying something!! We really did have a good time, and I must admit, tonight it has hit me full force...I'm tired. We went to his RPI reunion in Troy, saw lots of people in the 4 days there, lots of events...then on to Bangor and down to Bar Harbor...Lovely spot, then to Camden for a couple of days...loved Camden...then to Boothbay Harbor (it was wonderful when we were there in the 60's, but lost its alure for us this time...looks like it needs a tune up and some paint, and a much better traffic provision for tourists....then to Portland ME...another nice town, lovely people and lots to do, or nothing if one wishes. Spent some time for a couple of days exploring the Kennebunks (loved Kennebunkport in particular)---then 3 nights in Newport, seeing the Mansions, the Newport Flower Show (a VERY la-te-dah event!, and quite beautiful in the Rosecliff Mansion)....then a day in Mystic. From there we went to the Boston area, but decided to stay in the outskirts mostly, because one can't just "do Boston in a couple of days"...we will come back, and just spend time there riding the "T" in and out of the city.... I loved many of the quaint little New England towns. Most of them are pretty well kept up, and most interesting. I did see that the towns which have a large immigrant population don't seem to be as well kept as the others... Marleborough MA was a good/bad example of this....maybe if people don't have any idea of the history of a place, they don't care to throw trash in the basket, and keep the place clean. The folks who founded it in 1660 wouldn't be impressed I don't think.
