US unemployment rates that are dependent on "jobless claims" paying $300/week are bogus. The jobs losses in this decade are hitting the white collar workers who take longer than 6 mos to get a new job and who consider $300/wk jobless benefits to be insignificant.

We are creating roughly half the jobs we created a decade ago. Even in the early 90s we were creating double the jobs we are creating now. This is easily verifiable on the BLS site.

Heres a post I wrote on another thread with specifics.

As you can see, in 1993 we created 2.5 million jobs. 1993 was considered a HO HUM job creation year, then. We haven't created 2.5 million jobs a year in this ENTIRE DECADE. That leaves off the really hot years in the 90s where we created 3.5 million jobs- wow!

In 2001 and 2002 the US actually lost jobs, a simply amazing figure since the Bush inspired pork goverment jobs fest was going full steam while he created the DHS and other useless beaurocracies with the surplus. 2005 was the only halfway decent year for job growht in this decade, every other year has been bad, including this year.

those are the facts, from the BLS site.
