I don't listen to most political interviews; after so many years in the political public affairs biz, I am sick of all the rhetoric spewing forth every day. I thank my lucky stars I am not part of the machine cranking it out any longer.

There are journalists and columnists who will ask tough questions, but the answers will always be the briefing book boilerplate BS. That's how the machine works. If you think journos should start screaming and insulting their interview subjects at that point, you should try doing that as a journalist yourself and see where it gets you.

Much of the media is just a forum for different views to be aired. If a journalist gets both sides in, he has done his job.

I'm sure Paul Kern would have much more to say on that topic.

The problem with MSM conspiracies is that they all come down to, the media isn't doing and saying exactly what I think and want to hear, so it's corrupted by evil distortions.

I don't find that analytically useful myself. Your solution of seeking a wider range of voices is the best compensation for whatever bias you see.
