Positive Thinking is stupid thinking. It leads people to do stupid things, as though if they just imagine hard enough, and believe enough, their silly ideas will come true.

I'm sure King George II was full of positive thinking and so were his acolytes. But reality in Iraq put the fantasy thinking in its place.

Mq provided free advice before the carnage, but Positive Thinking won the day.

What a billion years of evolutionary carnage requires is not positive thinking but matching thinking to reality. Wanting something to be is not enough. Seriously positive thinking about incompatible reality creation won't work.

Mostly, positive thinking just means unleashed ego. Mere megalomania. Any alpha male monkey gets carried away with positive thinking.

That's why democracy is good. It puts limits on the ego of megalomaniacs [to some extent]. Which isn't to say the mob has any particular redeeming merit - lemming tendencies are strong in mob rule.
