Some of the comments were indeed "way out there".... The child probably just wanted to be with his Dad and family, rather than shooting a bear. Kids that age are very much wanting to be included in their families lives.

Now, when they get a bit older, that's a different matter. Their families, particularly Mom and/or Dad don't know much of anything, and probably won't until the kid gets to be at least 25 or 30.....
