"Posts like that make me wish 9/11 had happened on your coast in your backyard instead of in NYC. It might give you a better appreciation of how callous your comment is"

Message 20859833

I don't know how much charity you can expect when you write things like that to people.

"Posts like that MAKE ME WISH 9/11 HAD HAPPENED on your COAST IN YOUR BACKYARD instead of in NYC"

"That postdated X's repeated accusation that I wish another 9/11 would happen to her. "

Yeah
it's so obvious you weren't telling me you wished that 9/11 HAD happened in my backyard, even though you said you wished that. Or do you feel putting "another" in there somehow makes it all better. Silly me for not seeing you didn't mean what you said. Good lord. If I said something like that you'd get all your buddies together and hound me forever over it. You should thank your lucky stars I don't follow you around and post it to you all over SI. I only post it when you so foolishly bring it up and try to weasel your way out of what you said. Take ownership. Be a man. You said it. Own up to it.

That's another good example of posting something that came out with the potential for a very different interpretation than perhaps you intended. If memory serves, you said you wished 9-11 had happened in her back yard.
Now I can see what you may have meant- which is that you felt she was diminishing 9-11 somehow in her discussion about risk assessment, and maybe had it been closer to her, it would be more real, and she heard, "they should have blown you up". (At least you didn't say POS.)
But it was as legit as her statement about principles was had anyone listened.
I can't get into who did what first with much enthusiasm given the ten year history we all have.
:)

Lane 3 has also run into this reaction when she tries to discuss risk assessment. It has a way of raising hackles. But also, we all tend to look for the nasties in the people we either don't like, or have fought with, or to whom we are positioned very diametrically.
And sometimes, when someone just gets too close to our own small self-delusions, the ones we need to get through the day.
