Between us, I missed the old nasty X and am glad to see her off the bench and in the game, at least on one thread. There are none better at the sport. She is a professional among amateurs. Have I used the sports analogy enough yet? Seriously, I think maintaining civility in the face of outright rudeness IS hard work for all of us. I think success may depend on a couple of things: one is if you are a wimp who really, really has a problem with rudeness in any form, and two, if you view civility as an integral part of your ethical system which doesn't change with external stimuli. A lot of people have a kind of sliding scale. "If I get hit, I hit back", and that's part of THEIR system. Lots of variations.
