g'morning everybody

the Big Gig starts today

Summerfest:

summerfest.com

fun, music, food by the lake

today's line-up:

06/28/20077:30 pm Marcus Amphitheater
Steely Dan ( Summerfest )

Steely Dan is the collaboration of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen. They established a reputation for sophisticated, jazz-influenced rock in the '70s with a string of critically admired albums and a handful of hit singles such as "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" and "Hey Nineteen." After disbanding for most of the '80s, they reunited in 1993 and have worked together periodically since, even winning a Grammy for album of the year for "Two Against Nature" in 2001.

06/28/20078:30 pm ( Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard )
Phil Vassar

Vassar is sometimes typed as a country Billy Joel, but that overlooks the big hunk of '60s frat party rock in his makeup. Vassar is a party maniac and a natural fit for Summerfest, which is very probably why they keep bringing him back.

06/28/20079:00 ( M&I Bank Classic Rock Stage )
REO Speedwagon ( Summerfest )

06/28/20079:00 ( U.S. Cellular Connection Stage )
Say Anything ( Summerfest )

06/28/20079:00 pm ( Jo Jo's Martini Lounge )
The Boogie Men

06/28/20079:00 pm ( U.S. Cellular Connection Stage )
The Graduate

06/28/20079:15 pm ( Zippo Rock Stage )
Flyleaf ( Summerfest )

06/28/200711:00 pm ( Potawatomi Bingo Stage & Pavilion )
Dickey Betts

06/28/200711:00 pm ( U.S. Cellular Connection Stage )
Jack's Mannequin

06/28/200711:00 pm ( Zippo Rock Stage )
Puddle of Mudd

06/28/200711:00 pm ( Miller Lite Oasis )
Violent Femmes

Though never a commercial powerhouse, Milwaukee's Femmes can claim to have been one of the more influential bands to emerge from the '80s.

06/28/200711:00 pm( Harley-Davidson Roadhouse )
Wolfmother

The comparisons are vintage Led Zeppelin and Blue Cheer, but in point of fact Wolfmother is three young guys from Australia with a knack for early hard rock and progressive rock styling.
