True. But why do they have close to nothing? They have mineral wealth, including oil and gas, they have agriculture, they have excellent harbors, they even have a reasonable pool of educated people. Not to mention very close access to US markets. Yet Mexico has not benefited from globalization and the outsourcing that the US companies have been engaged in.

Yeah, but that isn't the fault of the average person on the streets.


Whose fault is it if not the citizens of Mexico?

No it isn't. Jose in the street has very little say in what happens. And it is a shame.

And it is why I don't think this Azltan thing will have legs. Those Hispanics who have been here a few generations don't have that strong of a connection with Mexico, and are often appalled when they visit. It is easy to get used to law enforcement that isn't driven by bribes and kickbacks.

Mexico doesn't have that.
