So the Medieval and Renaissance artists who spent their lives decorating churches with tryptichs and painting monasteries with frescoes of the saints were "liberals"?

The whole question of the politics of artists didn't even arise until the Wars of Religion forced them to take a side, and hardly even then.

Perhaps you are not aware of the definition of "conservative":


Sure, I know what "conservative" is. The BBC tells me nightly. Every time they have to describe some knuckle-dragging misogynistic terror-supporting Pakistani Islamist type, I'm informed he's "conservative."
