<<<I know how influential talk radio can be. I have several good friends who still believe there were WMD...and that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and it's frivolous to debate with them.>>>

I have faith that ultimately, at the end of a very long day, all arguments can be brought to a logical conclusion.

What is happening now is that there are far too many people wanting to take shortcuts to arrival at a logical conclusion.

Thinking becomes suspect. They let their emotions rule their intellect. They distort reality to fit their emotional needs.

We all know Saddam was not a good person.

We all know a terrible crime was committed on 911.

Eventually we will find ways to prevent people like Saddam from becoming like Saddam in the first place and never let anyone like him to gain power over the lives of people. In the same way we will be able to find ways to prevent people from becoming like those people who perpetrated 911. It is not going to be easy.

Talk radio evangelists, however, are making big bucks creating a new religion suggesting shortcut means to satisfy people vulnerable to immediate gratification, get them to wrap all their own personal problems into one neat little package, blame it on other unfortunate people that have very little power to begin with, and suggest very repressive means to solve all those problems.

Talk radio evangelist solutions have no way to succeed. Deep down, they know this. That is why they want to cut off debate. That is why they distort reality.

...my hair dressers up here said her husband only watches Fox news as all the rest is false garbage.

I recently met a very nice, intelligent woman who is newly married to an investment banker.

We were at a party and the subject turned to favorite current TV shows.

I noticed that she hadn't contributed her favorites, so I asked her what she enjoyed watching.

She said, "Oh, our TV stays tuned to Fox News 24/7. It does get a bit repetitious, though. I mean, I GET it already!"
