Sadly, I agree. Its obvious to me that the two main parties have put their party above the USA, I think the Dems are particularly guilty of this but too many Republicans seem the same. We need a return to the good ole days of politics which STOPPED AT THE BORDER but that seems unlikely now. jdn

"The democrats are weakening our defenses hoping they can use the next terrorist attack against the republicans."

i cannot accept that congress is hoping hoping for a terrorist attack so they can blame republicans.

The democrats are weakening our defenses hoping they can use the next terrorist attack against the republicans.

A terrorist attack here is probably the only thing that can save the Republicans and President Bush politically. So even if the Democrats cared only about politics and nothing else, they wouldn't want that. More likely it's the right who are secretly wishing for another terrorist attack to remind people of what Republicans believe is at stake.

The best thing the Democrats can do politically, and it seems to be exactly what they're doing, is let Bush and the Republicans twist in the wind of their own failures until the next elections.

A terrorist attack or an impeachment would only change the subject. Right now the subject is what a failure the President and the Republicans are. (Have you seen the latest CBS poll? Bush at 27%, the Iraq war more unpopular than ever...) It would be politically foolish for the Democrats to change the subject.
