No child left behind is beginning to look like a double edged sword, like other entitling public programs of the past. We are losing in the output end of our education formula. Even Bush has recognized that in math and science we have fallen behind.

The idea is fine but with a national education system it should be strategically fine tuned to eliminate waste and support other educational issues as needed. When I looked into a fairly affluent school district in my region I saw little or no funding/interest for students with high math and science aptitude while the money for the low end was being wasted since the low enders were able to benefit adequately from what was already in place. When I called a state representative I was told, that's what private schools are for.

The teachers and schools are all rated by how they measure up on state tests. The state tests are only concerned that schools don't fall below a certain standard. You get zero points for students that are achieving at a high standard ... huge mistake.
