I just saw a special on the Bismark and it was quite interesting. Interview some surviving crew members and dove on the wreck and evaluated the damage to her. Out of 880 large rounds there were 2 penetrations of the hull below the water line. Of all the torpedo hits, none penetrated. If they hadn't scuttled it we would still be trying to shoot holes through the side.

I think the Bismark and McCain have very little in common:)
