Would the civil liberties crowd in the US tolerate the cameras that were so useful in the UK?

We are covering NYC with them right now. In the name of "traffic control." There are very few places in NYC where you can't get a tape of what has happened. Either from a private or a public tape.

I don't know what happened, but the installation of cameras in public places in London seemed to happen over night. Are they all over England now, and did the people of England have a say about their installation ?

It is a subject that needs to be debated, but I have a feeling we are going to find that they will be installed in all major cities, followed by small cities, without public input.
