Pomp, Clinton was never charged with cheating on his wife nor is that a crime. It was common knowledge that clinton cheated on his wife and this is not under dispute even by the clintons. The basis for his perjury and obstruction of justice was to avoid the consequences of a law suit filed by Paula Jones. Many women have charged clinton with everything from molestation to brutal rape. No one has charged him with cheating on his wife, nor is it rational to conclude that was his basis for purjury and obstruction of justice under the circumstances. "Somehow if Clinton was in front of a jury explaining why he lied about cheating on his wife, and this was the basis of the perjury and obstruction charge.... Didn't you just say any claim of having a 'basis' is a red herring? Then why attempt to minimalize the issue by promoting even a false basis?
