My mother had a Westphalia edition VW Bus. It's the camper version with a pop-up top. She and the five of us traveled the US in that thing. I recall the year I was 15 and had my permit, we put something like 5,000 miles on it, and I did most of the driving. I learned to lean on the wheel, which was almost horizontal, to fight the wind from passing semis and, well, the wind itself.
