[edited] @Aleph - Big Money
When it comes to AMD, the stock is influenced by recommd. -
in the last time, we had many relativly "good" comments, even
some upgrades. I haven't seen a bad downgrade in the last time,
which I suppose is the main driver for the 13-15$ level hold.
Many people and analysts seem to focus on the K10 intro-
duction. It seems near common sense to me, that people believe
AMD will instantly have the performance crown with K10 in all
segments back and revenue will only get better once this
"baby" is launched. To bad, Intel is pushing fast ahead with
one of the strongest product lineups in their history and
with a gigantic amount of new 300mm 65nm and in the near time
45nm FABs. I think the market wants to see facts from AMD,
which will happen in a few weeks. I could imagine too, that some
people hoped and still hoping for a Buyout or PE deal, which
will not happen, but you couldn't forbid these thoughts. *g*
Expect to see more downmoves as some fresh downgrades re-
appear or Q2 will show no improvement over Q1, which will be
the case too.

edit:
I get the feeling not only today, that the last moves are
mainly Options-related too. Just look what happened yesterday:

finance.yahoo.com

July
Again big Call volume 8K at 14$ and 10K at 16$ with much
less Puts. Now look here - Jan 08:

finance.yahoo.com

Only a few Calls, but huge Puts, 16K at 25$ and 19K at 30$.
I couldn't understand who acts in that market and whats the
reason for these transactions, but Option-volume is huge
compared to other stocks.

"One has to wonder whether the fact that AMD owes BigMoney a lot of cash has something to do with "supporting" the stock price !"

Difficult to wonder anymore...The only way those 2 x $2B loans get paid off is via transfer to the shareholder.

Expect an 100m share issue before long at current levels with the 2 x $2B bondholders providing the floor and taking on shares as required.

Given the decimated balance sheet, there is only one possible way for the 2 x $2B bondholders to get paid off: by transferring debt burden to the common shareholder.
