Well, Apple is selling them but Intel doesn't feel confident about certifying them at that speed and power consumption. Have you seen the heat sinks on those Apples? The CPUs run hotter than 130 watts, but just how much hotter is hard to say since it's not a supported speed. The 3.0's are basically overclocked 2.66s. Less hot than the 220 watt ATI cards, but probably not much less hot. There haven't been any significant reports of flaky machines, but it will be interesting to see how those machines do after a year of sucking dust and cat hair into their heat sinks.

The first Clovertown parts have more than the usual number of errata, too, which may be another reason Intel won't certify parts at the speed Apple's selling them. There isn't any question that Intel will be able to get the power down to something more tolerable, and a "real" 3ghz will ship, but, like barcleona, it isn't really a mainstream part, just yet.
