Why do you tell yourself the above when the facts don't line up with the reality?

The CIA and the intelligence community at large let us down big time - their information was wrong and hasn't been right on so many other issues - why they haven't been dismantled is beyond me.

Do you honestly believe Saddam would have stopped pursuing his goals or was he just trying to wait out the UN?

That country had resolutions from the UN dating back years - long before 911 - the UN can't even handle darfur - they are a nearly useless organization.

What should bother you the most is how anxious Bush/Cheney wanted to go to war.

They were motivated, I believe, by trying to protect the nation but did not plan out the peace. They got approval from the right people (congress, etc) they failed to plan the entire operation. If they had managed to secure the peace they would be hailed as hero's not the goats they are being portrayed as - this is the cost of political failure not to mention the cost to the nation in life and treasure.
