It's pretty amazing stuff.

This is what I know.

The local paper, the Times Union (which published a big story on yours truly in January :) ), released a story earlier in the week that said that the NY Senate majority leader, Joe Bruno, had been using government vehicles and personnel to get him to fundraisers, which is a no-no.

This appears to be true; there's documentation: timesunion.com

I haven't heard Bruno deny the charges; he's questioning how the TU found out about what he did. He says that the Spitzer administration is spying on him; they say that the records that are being kept on Bruno's travels are no different than the records kept on Spitzer's travels, but Spitzer's people haven't released similar documentation.

Bruno even claims that the TU offered to do a favorable story on him if he'd pay them to do it. He's also saying that Spitzer isn't fit to govern.

Spitzer's turning out to be a bit of a dirty bastard, so I wouldn't put the surveillance thing past him. However, Bruno appears to just be flailing to hold on to his political life, which would be over in two years anyway after he loses the slim Republican lead in the State Senate.
