My first oil stock, probably my first Canadian stock, and my best investment (at that point) since the dot-com mania was PetroKazakhstan (PKZ). That was what got me started investing in resources stocks. But there was definitely some funny business going on in the last months before PKZ was bought out. The price was forced way down by Kazakh government shenanigans, driving many investors out (including me, sob) before rapidly doubling again. It's the wild west.
