Actually..it was the people NOT adhering to religious beliefs that ADVANCED the World.

There would be NO Western Hemisphere if people had adhered to religious beliefs.

There would be NO modern science and none of us could have been expected to live past 40 if everyone had adhered to religious beliefs.

You SAY that you believe in the BIBLE, but I'll BET that you won't refuse to take the "valve of a pig" if you ever have to have open heart surgery.

"The funny thing is that if you truly believe in evolution, you would have to favor the strong over the weak."

Why?

Evolution is a funny thing. Some studies have revealed that in some species, while the chest beating "strong" are out fighting and securing their social position, the puny "weak" are screwing all the females and impregnating them!

Sometimes natural selection is counterintuitive. You'd think that the prosperous, well educated would be selected for, but the poor, less educated WAY outbreed the rich smarties. Maybe it's just nature's way of getting rid of a harmful species?

RMF, > It's hard to "evolve past" something when so MANY people don't even believe in evolution.

Society advanced just fine despite the vast majority in the world not believing in atheism and evolution.

I am not so sure that most red state societies have "advanced fine" at all. By a number of societal parameters, they are behind the proverbial eight ball.
