Water vapor IS a greenhouse gas, and more of one than CO2. What the wingnuts don't factor in when they bring that up is, mankind hasn't done much of anything to affect the amount of water vapor present in the atmosphere - it pretty much is what it is and has been.

CO2 on the other hand, we're pumping into the atmosphere constantly from our hundreds of millions of cars and numerous engines and powerplants constantly. We're warming the planet, and we need to control what we CAN.

You're going to challenge that water vapor is a more plentiful greenhouse gas than CO2? You're revealing yourself to be a real uneducated simpleton if you do.

No, I don't remember where I learned this, probably a very long time ago.

Here's something else for you to ponder (don't remember where I first heard of it either but its a fact) - the US is a carbon sink. That means that despite our CO2 emissions from out vehicles and industry, more CO2 is absorbed from the atmosphere in the US than is emitted. The reason is reforestation. Deforestation and reforestation is a big factor in the CO2 balance in the atmosphere.

Try this......http://zfacts.com/p/226.html

That shows a correlation, nothing there shows a cause in either direction.

You're a friggin bean counter....no wonder you can't understand anything scientific.

Yep and your past posts reveal I know a lot more about science than you do. You know I took college level bio/chem and math courses - I didn't settle on a major till late - was a math major for a time, toyed with the idea of pre-dental, engineering - but finally finances and a desire to get out of school and get a job quickly made me switch to a quick and practical field. Wish I'd done it sooner.

Frankly a few years out of school, its ones curiousity and ability and desire to educate themselves that matters most.

If you want to see an even better correlation than the one on the chart you posted take a look at this:

Message 23322034

It's the same chart you posted, but with sunspot cycle length posted in as well. Notice how the sunspot cycle length matches much more closely with temperature than CO2 does.

Now how do you know what is causing what?
