Showing some modesty is one thing. Whether its skirts below the knees or veils, its nothing that is threatening. I think the burka is scary and even if the woman who is wearing one is OK with it, i dont think burkas are wise for weatern societies. There is something so primitive and backward about it that i think they should be banned. I never say religious things should be banned. This is a first. Its a big issue in europe. We sort of believe here in religous rights including something as dumb as a burka. I am not so sure we should anymore. You cant be a good citizen of the USA if you are wearning a mask unless you are the Lone Ranger.

Re.."a good idea to have a religious value which encourages women to cover their face, while making no such regulation regarding a man's face."

Thank you for the phrasing...YES it is a good idea to ENCOURAGE women to cover their faces.

At Ascot the covering of the female face is " derigore"
