Guaranteed or not, SS hasn't missed a payment for 72 years and is solvent until at least 2042. And probably longer because they use pretty pessimistic economic assumption in their forecasts. With more common assumptions, SS is solvent for 75 years into the future.

SS is actually in very good shape in spite of all the rhetoric to the contrary.

SS could easily be made solvent, if it really weren't. Just take off the 90k cap. If that's not enough, apply SS to unearned capital gains, which should be taxed the same or even higher than EARNED income in any case.

MY most hated tax is my property tax, that goes toward putting OTHER PEOPLES little nosepickers through school. It's just UNFAIR! If they want to have nosepickers, they should pay, not me!
