Think low hanging fruit first ..

Domestic refinery capacity has in fact been
expanded by the industry at existing facilities and
continues to do so .. Ditto for new nukes; as the first
ones proposed by NuStart will be located on previously
approved sites adjacent to existing reactors ..

Building new from scratch on a virgin site ..
That's for later ..

Nuclear power has seemed to caught on or never gone away in many states. Didn't run any numbers, but next to coal, and a smidgen of hydro power, Nuclear power heats, cools and lights millions of homes and business's in the US.
