Yes, it has gotten better lately. Have you heard of the "Anbar Awakening"? If not, go read Michael Yon or John Burn's latest NYT articles. The Sunnis are starting to wake up and notice that they bloody well need the Americans to stick around a little longer. Al Qaeda has worn out its welcome. Haven't you noticed that many of Al Qaeda's biggest civilian attacks in the last six months are in Sunni towns like Ramadi and Fallujah? Why would they do that if they have local support? The Republican Senators are defecting now for local political concerns, and because they are short-sighted idiots. Since when do YOU look to Senator Lugar for pearls of wisdom?
