Uh......not exactly. In a natural setting, a fire started by a lightning strike is nature's way of keeping things in balance. However, fires started by man in the same area repeatedly is of little benefit to the ecology and does more damage than good.

As for S. CA, most fires are brush fires, not forest fires, and its not likely they benefit anyone.
