What you say sounds right. But I've heard the opposite argument made as well. That, after Vietnam, the military was not eager to fight; it's been the civilian leadership that's been gungho for one more war. And then another. And then another.

Although he is very convincing for not only staying the course
but having more troops I just cannot ignore that he is a military man and for the military men the only solution is war....


Not to mention that he wants to keep his job. Remember Shinsecki?

Suma -

Yet there are a lot of retired generals and even current members of the Armed Forces who have been saying that there is no real military solution to Iraq's problems. When generals say things like that, the President should listen.
