As I unnerstan it, the free people of Texas unanimously voted to secede from the Mexican union, and were not annexed as such. They may have had some dissatisfaction afterwards due to their social status not maintaining as it was supposed to, but they seem to have done alright since, and I don't see any clamouring to rejoin. Of course some put that down to rampant immigration into the territory, a fact I cannot readily dispute, but that is a double edged sword if every there was one.

I too know the pain of confiscation of indigenous lands by usurpers. Me free booting grass land of the free-from-work county of Connemara was purloined from some of me beleagured innocent and peaceful ancestors by marauding Danes. I am a bit schiz about it as I don't know which ancestor to be madder at fer this bit of land fraud.
