Well, in that light, would you care to elaborate on your previously expressed attitudes towards Mormons and their fitness to hold public office? Your prior comments here and elsewhere lead me to conclude that you believe Mormons are all fine and dandy with you provided they know their place, and the Oval Office was one you exclude as being an acceptable place based on their faith alone. You had no problem ridiculing their sacred practices, as well.

Snobbery? Or bigotry?

neither

nor to i have any problem with my attitude toward islam

my posts on that topic are much more pointed than those on mormonism

i certainly have no problem with identifying and ridiculing 'sacred practices'

i do have a problem with feigning astonishment that someone might take offense if i point out and challenge beliefs i find incoherent

iow, if you truly believe someone is delusional because they converse with an 'imaginary friend' (pray) please do tell....just don't try to gloss it over with a well intentioned 'good faith' description of your efforts in communicating

i don't expect mormons or islamists to like what i think about those religions, or religions. period.

i have spoken personally with a mormon friend, without ridicule as in 'now let's talk about your imaginary friend'

i did in fact have a conversation with her about the 'underwear

'

dearelder.com

in which i challenged her about the *logic* of this...for example, i asked what do mormons wear to the beach or to swim...i expressed to her my attitude about the history of mormonism ...she really could not explain why it was ok to wear swimwear but necessary to wear knee length underwear under clothes for modesty

she did acknowledge the apparent contradiction

currently living in utah, i see a lot of contradiction

for example, only the *state* is allowed to sell alcohol, with an apparent nod to the evil nature of the substance

anyone who cannot see the logical disconnect there, well, i am sorry i just cannot help

and yes, my mormon friend and i...we remain friends....

something i doubt would be true if i used 'imaginary friend' in the context of my criticism

oh and another thing...

was one you exclude as being an acceptable place based on their faith alone (emphasis yours)

to answer this point directly

yes....i do

for example....

if a candidate states he/she believes in the tooth fairy, because as a child every time he lost a tooth, he woke up in the morning and as sure as the sun rises, there was a quarter, i would say, nope, i don't think this person is qualified to be in any political office

iow, while i have a problem with religion in general and on many different levels....it is my perception that some religions are more problematic than others, islam being the most glaring example of religion run amok, noting the despicable condition of the majority of islamic state, PARTICULARLY wrt human rights
