He was echoing the intel that was publicly issued by Goebbels Dept. of Misinformation (i.e. WH, State Dept., Pentagon etc..).

Of course all those statements were made before Bush forced Saddam to let the inspectors back in.

Then the calculus changed. But Bush wouldn't change. Contrary to what he had been saying, he was determined to invade no matter if the circumstances changed or not.

Bush was on a roll, like gambler who couldn't lose, he was golden back then. So he went for it and lost it all. It happens. Unfortunately we're all losing because of it...
